ok this is my tutorial page i made. nothing fancy or special just a quick demonstration on how to do an airbrushed vector. to see a tutorial on much more complicated non-airbrushed vector click here and go to vector tutorial

ok first you choose your picture one that is in colour and has at least 3-4 shading tones
then you choose your colors you'll be using as outlined below

make a new layer and draw in the darker outlines first

now draw in all the light tones and fill them in too

now fill in the whole face

by now your vector is looking like an alian

now get a new layer

now do the outlines of the face

blend all the edges around the tones with a size 6 or smaller brush making it airbrushed
now look at the original pic and try making the lines shade in naturally copying the shading and tonesImage hosted by Photobucket.com
draw in the teeth/mouth and eyes

try to make as detailed as possible..this photo doesnt have much detail but in your photo play around with eyeshadows, mascara's, lip colors etc.
now shade in the neck and/or ears (mine has none)

now trace around the face with the wand tool and copy the face and then paste it

so that we can get rid of the big picture to be left with just the vectored face. if we don't copy the face underneath and copy it there will be "holes" or spaces in the picture

now take away(hide not delete) the photo layer

merge all visible layers but dont discrad hidden layers and then erase the skin tones key as shown

now bring back the photo layer to trace the hair

make a new layer and outline the lighter tones in the hair. hair is easier to do when there is 2 colors but for a more textured effect choose 3-4 colors

now trace the outline with a darker colour and fill in

keep working on hair until you think it is perfect(mine is not finished yet)
